Peter Meade joined Sun Lakes Rotary on Oct. 31, 2016. Since that time, he has accomplished much to help our members achieve some incredible goals.
Peter is on the team for the club’s famous Pancake Breakfast. This year, tickets were only $5, and children were free; a way the club hoped to pay back the folks who have supported Sun Lakes Rotary all these years. Another big job that he is involved in is the annual golf tournament. He was the one who came up with the idea of watching numbered golf balls drop from a helicopter. Want a home run on a par four? Easy. Peter figured you could use a bazooka. And we did. It has become one of the favorite events of the tournament. For every golfer, this is the first time anyone has ever driven a golf ball 350+ yards!
Peter has ridden his motorcycle to help raise money for charity. He has created ads for the Splash. He helps with the club’s AWIM (A World in Motion) program that helps grade school kids work together to build vehicles. Recently, it was his idea to install permanent tables and benches outside the front door of the Sun Lakes Medical Center where patients can wait for rides in Arizona shade.
He is a past club president and is currently Chairman of Sun Lakes Rotary Foundation 2000. Peter was a manager for Target stores starting in Duluth, Minnesota, with stops along the way in Kansas City and Tucson, retiring in 2003.
