Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Project Supports 2,281 Kiddos
Dr. Honora Norton, RCSL Public Image Director
The Rotary Club of Sun Lakes (RCSL) signed on to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) in 2019 in City of Guadalupe to give our children the best start in life. DPIL was inspired by Dolly Parton’s own dad, who couldn’t read or write. Since 2019 RCSL has added three Chandler zip codes, has mailed 57,283 books to 2,281 kiddos (from birth to age five—each has received a book a month in their family’s mailbox) for a total cost of $127,319.79.
While our hearts are incredibly sad by the passing of Dolly Parton, RCSL is proud to support this important mission. Together, we are building a brighter future for our children. Over the years RCSL has held several fundraisers including past Golf Tournaments to support DPIL. Thank you to all who have supported RCSL’s work and Dolly’s legacy. If you are interested in supporting this legacy—contact the Club’s Treasurer: Stan Kaufman at stankaufman238@gmail.com or send a donation with note to Sun Lakes Rotary Foundation 2000, PO Box 13094, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. RCSL Recognizes Members for Philanthropic Gifts
Dr. Honora Norton, Public Image Director
The Rotary Club of Sun Lakes recognized members for their philanthropic gifts to The Rotary International Foundation (TRF). TRF is the charitable arm of Rotary International (RI), funding humanitarian educational, and cultural programs, i.e. fighting disease (like the global effort to eradicate polio), providing clean water and sanitation, supporting basic education, saving mothers and children, growing local economies, and promoting peace. Paul Harris Fellow recognition was established in 1957 to show appreciation for various levels of contributions that support Rotary International’s Annual Fund, PolioPlus or/and approved RI global grant.
