Our firefighters in our community
Jeanne and Bill Becker
On Saturday, Oct. 24, from 8 a.m. to approximately 11 a.m., The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation is sponsoring our Second Annual “Walk-A-Thon” fundraiser for our local Sun Lakes firefighters and EMTs based at Firehouses 341 and 342 with all funds collected to be donated directly to the Firefighters’ Food Fund. Last year, our first Walk-A-Thon raised $22,000 for this cause. This year’s goal is an attempt to cover even more of the costs of the Firefighters Food Fund.
Registration
You can donate directly but not actually walk the roads, or you can decide to contribute and also actively participate in the walk at Oakwood C.C. on Saturday, October 24.

And in the SLCC#1 Clubhouse lobby:

At the event: participants will sign in at the Golf Pavillion Registration Desk, where they will be given red wrist bands for breakfast, plus they can purchase tickets for a 50/50 Raffle and receive other fire service related “goodies” in bags donated by Built By Referral Realty. Also, AFMA will display a fire engine and an ambulance with a free photo booth, and your questions will be answered by firefighters and EMTs. Then, free breakfast with the first responders and their families will be served in the Oakwood Ballroom. The Fire Corps members will offer information regarding the Emergency Lockbox Program, the Vial of Life, and the AFMA Ambulance Membership Program. Additionally, there will be the Stay Off the Ladder program sponsored by The Redeemed Team (Realtors) and a table by Neighbors Who Care.
Parking will be at a premium, so attendance on golf carts is preferable.
Please join the Foundation in raising these extra Food Funds for our local firefighters and EMTs in Firehouses 341 and 342.
Thank you.
