Sew-N-Sews has had a busy April. Our fabric sale was a huge success, and we raised $350 to benefit our five charity groups. We are grateful to the family of Betty Linzmayer, a very talented seamstress and a past president of Sew-N-Sews. The fabric and notions were plentiful and were adopted by members who had some very creative ideas for their use.

We will also be drawing the lucky winner of our donated Pfaff sewing machine at our April meeting. The machine was donated by the family of longtime member Carol DuBois. We will also use the proceeds of the raffle to benefit our charity groups.

Our Pads4Paws group donated almost 300 pads for distribution at the Veterans Stand Down in March. This brings the total pads donated since inception of the group in the mid-1990s to over 9,000. Congratulations to Pads4Paws on their dedication and a big thank you to all those generous people who were giving of their time and materials to reach that amazing milestone.

One of our new groups, Pillowcases for Kids, will resume meeting in August. Our group will work together to gather material, construct pillowcases, and donate them to several groups for foster and underprivileged children. We will put together kits that members can work on independently. Kits are easily assembled. Patterns were available at the April meeting. Donations of cotton fabric 42 to 45 inches in width by lengths ranging from one-eighth yard or more are greatly appreciated. We invite you to become involved to support this endeavor.

Stitch and Chat (A Friendship Group) has a lot of different things going on at each meeting. Some of us are knitting, some organizing their beads, some seeking advice about their particular project. In other words, you can bring anything you are working on (or ignoring) in your sewing or hobby room. There is also room at the table if you just need to get out of the house for some friendly chat for an hour or two. We meet on the third Friday of each month starting at 10 a.m.

Some of our groups meet during the summer, and some do not. Members should check with the group contact person to determine summer schedules. Contact info is always in our monthly newsletter.

Our April program was our annual election of Officers and our Spring Luncheon. This luncheon gives our members a chance to socialize with their friends—always a popular event. Show & Tell and door prizes were wonderful, as usual.

Our May meeting will be held on May 11 in the Navajo Room of Sun Lakes Country Club. We will have our annual installation of elected officers and introduce our new committee members who have volunteered to be part of the Sew-N-Sews team. Join us for lunch in the dining room at 11:30 a.m. Our May meeting will be the last until September.
