It’s amazing what you will find in the new Assistance League East Valley’s new location at 2326 N. Alma School Rd. in Chandler.
The new location has so much more space to display the many unique articles.
On January 11 at Sun Lakes Country Club at 1:00 p.m. the Sew-N-Sews will be presenting a fashion show. The casual and dressy fashions will be modeled by members that live in Sun Lakes and have purchased them at the store. Lois Katzin, a 93 year old former model who now volunteers at the store, will be the moderator.
Assistance League East Valley is caring and commitment in action; 7,452 children in pre-K through sixth grade were provided school uniforms or school clothing through Operation School Bell; 4,037 victims of assault or crisis received clothing, hygiene kits or other requested items; 540 elderly individuals and young adults with disabilities enjoyed monthly birthday parties at adult day care; 215 homeless students enjoyed monthly parties; and schools received books and three districts had sponsored spelling bees. The number of students benefiting from these services is incalculable; 15 students were awarded scholarships. Teddy bears are donated for child victims for the Chandler Police Department; $292,733 was donated to the community through six programs. Member volunteer service hours provided a value of $740,395 to our community (31,506 hours). Items can be dropped off any time Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. These are also the store hours.
The Sew-N-Sews of Sun Lakes is more than just a sewing club. We have charitable groups that provide heart pillows, crocheted baby caps and prayer shawls, refurbished dolls, books and Beanie babies, pads for animals and homeless veterans and layettes for premature newborns. We also have classes to learn more ideas.
Guests are welcome.
