Once again, as part of one of the area’s special events, several homes will be opening their model railroad layouts to the public on April 1 and 2 around the Valley. Several of these homes will be located in the Sun Lakes vicinity, with the majority of them being of the garden variety. Additional layouts may be available which would include some other locations, not necessarily of the garden variety. Spring is here, and the good weather has arrived, so we hope to see a nice turnout for all to enjoy. For additional details, keep your eyes open for flyers locally, check your local newsletters or check out the website for ABTO for additional details.
Several members of our club and guests recently made a trip up north to Clarksdale to check out the Verde Canyon Railroad Adventure. This is a four-train ride that takes you through some of the wonders of nature in its natural state in areas that can only be seen by train. If you’re looking for a place to visit, this may be of interest to you, especially if you have guests visiting the area for the first time. It’s an easy one-day trip, or more if you so desire. The town of Clarksdale has several nice restaurants and is relatively close to places like Jerome and Sedona. It is certainly worth the time to check it out for all you train enthusiasts.
Hopefully, you can spare a little bit of time to join us all at one of the most popular events of the year. We are looking forward to having a little bit of fun and getting to make some new acquaintances with those who share our interests. We will not be meeting at SunBird for the April and May months, as our club is involved in other activities out of the area. We do close down during the summer months, but will be back at SunBird on September 9. If you have any questions regarding any of the above or questions concerning our club, feel free to contact us at [email protected], or you can call 480-802-4976.
Have a great day!
