Sisterhood news

Joyce Spartonos, Publicity

The Sisterhood of Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation has an outstanding array of programs lined up for the 2014-2015 season.

The first program scheduled for Thursday, October 16 at 1:00 p.m. is entitled “We Are One.” Several members of a local Sephardic Congregation will be on hand to discuss the variations in how Sephardic Jews (from Mediterranean backgrounds ) and Ashkenazie Jews (from Eastern European backgrounds) celebrate holidays, traditions, foods, etc. Sisterhood is delighted to be offering this opportunity to learn how our cultures have differed as well as intermingled. We hope you will join us for this exciting and enlightening afternoon.

Unless otherwise noted, all Sisterhood meetings take place in the Chapel House in Sun Lakes.

Though it may seem like a long way off, Sisterhood wants to get the word out early to hold the date and that date is Tuesday, February 3, 2015. That’s when we’ll be hosting our annual Card Party. It’s going to be another spectacular one so make sure to mark your calendars. Sisterhood will be putting out all the information on it in the coming months, but in the meantime, we’ve given you all a heads up.

Sisterhood wants to remind you that dues (which are still only $25) can be paid now. Your check, made out to SLJC Sisterhood, should be sent to 3495 E. County Down Drive, Chandler, AZ 85249.

Our ongoing Toys From The Heart program is, as always, in full swing and your donations, in any amount, would be most appreciated. Checks made out to SLJC Sisterhood, with a notation that it’s for our “Toys” program, should be to the same address as your dues.

That’s it for now. See you next time.
