Spirit of independence

Beneath the Pier by Lynn Thompson

Ann Posiviata

We are blessed to have as a member Lynn Thompson. As a photographer, Lynn participates in our monthly competitions, has enjoyed recognition in the Arizona Camera Club Council’s semi-annual roundups and has taken on organizing the Photographic Society of America – just a few of his many contributions to the art of photography. No better way could his life’s portfolio of photography be revered than a six-page spread in July’s issue of Photographic Society of America’s. I highly recommend you join this amazing international group if you have not already. Lynn’s images will only inspire you as well as educate you with their technical proficiency. Lynn, from all of us here at the Sun Lakes Camera Club, congratulations!

Member/Club News: There is no meeting this month, July, due to the Independence Day holiday. Everyone, enjoy a very safe and fun-filled Fourth of July. With no meeting this month, our members have taken on themselves to organize mini trips locally outside the club. At the end of the month, a trip to the Grand Canyon is planned to capture some amazing images during the monsoons (hopefully.) Please go to sunlakescameraclub.com for details on events, communications and details. We will meet next Thursday, August 1, 2019. Keep an eye on our website for more.

We again would like to congratulate the following winners of our Camera Club’s 2018-2019 season by class: Digital: Class A: Janet Ballard, Class B: Shelley Hughes, Class C: Tom Jones; Print: Class A: William Lewis, Class B: Dale Wiley, Class C: N/A.

Remember that our 2019-2020 year begins in October 2019, with rotating subject being Photo Travel and Special Techniques Close up or macro. Keep this in mind during your summer excursions. Keep in mind that during our summer months, members are still very active with photography in the Valley. Please check the website, sunlakescameraclub.com, and look out for emails from the club making you aware of events members may be going to and offering to have others join.
