Our gourd quilt is a collaborative effort of our members and was placed in The Spirit of the Desert Gourd Patch at the February Running of the Gourds festival in the Pinal County Fairgrounds sponsored by Wuertz Gourd Farm.

Over the February 6-8 weekend many thousands of visitors streamed through the grounds and exhibits at the Running of the Gourds festival in the Pinal County Fairgrounds sponsored by Wuertz Gourd Farm.

Basket weaving classes were held at the home of Leigh Hill on February 24 and 25. A large number of our members attended and expanded their horizons on producing these beautiful, colorful gourds displaying reeds, beads, yarn, raffia and sea grass. Extraordinary!
On April 13, Shelly Fletcher and Margaret Sullivan will be hosting a class on fabulous gourd wall hangings at the Fletcher Farm in Laveen. Undoubtedly many of the 14 inch x 16 inch hanging gourd shards will be showing up in area homes. The hangings are stunning.
We have gained several new members who are being mentored by more experienced gourders; so if you are interested, do not hesitate to contact Vicki McKenna at 480-802-1632 or Lorraine Longpre at 480-895-7771. The Patch meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month at the Arts and Crafts Room in Sun Lakes Country Club and visitors are welcome.
