The spring senior softball league season opened on February 24 and will continue through April 16. A season-ending tournament and awards ceremony will be held at the Field of Dreams on Thursday, April 18.
As of press time, the winter league season was still underway with Mike Gloyd’s Mutual of Omaha Bankers holding a slim one-game lead over Larry Kaufmann’s Farmer’s Insurance squad. Bill Whitely was leading the league in hitting with a robust .802 average, just five points ahead of Larry Kaufmann’s .797 average. Steve Hilby was hot on their heels at .779. Our organization lost long time member Carl William “Billy” Ligon last month. Bill passed away after a short illness and will be missed by all. Our condolences go out to his family and many friends.
