Join us at the St. Steven’s Ladies Guild Women’s Retreat on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Steven’s Roman Catholic Church, 24827 S. Dobson Road, Sun Lakes, Ariz. The topic will be “Mary: What Can She Teach Us About Faithfully Following Jesus?”
The morning will focus on the life of Mary, her relationship with Jesus, what scripture tells us about her, and what our Catholic tradition tells us about her life of faith. Using art and music, we will have time for reflection and sharing our own experience of faith and what we’ve learned from Mary as mother, teacher, and faithful disciple of Jesus.
Reflections will focus on Mary as a young mother and as Jesus’ first teacher. Following her through the life of Jesus, we reflect on her also at the foot of the cross, as Mother of Sorrows, and, finally, as our mother, with us in life, loss, and transformations.
Our presenter will be Cathy Olds, coordinator of Spiritual Direction Ministry at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale. Cathy has worked in parishes in the diocese of Phoenix and in university and secondary Catholic schools in Dayton, Ohio. Cathy completed a Master of Arts in Theology at the University of Dayton and a certificate in spiritual direction from the Arizona Ecumenical Institute for Spiritual Directors. She has served as a spiritual director since 2005 and happily lives with her son, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren in Mesa, Ariz.
RSVP to Kathleen Parkhurst at [email protected]. The deadline to RSVP is Oct. 20.
A free-will offering is appreciated.
