The Lenten season, which began Ash Wednesday, is well underway at St. Steven’s. Our parish has Soup and Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings at 5:00 p.m. in the Great Hall, which began February 19 and will continues through March 18. The soup is a simple meal keeping in solidarity with the poor.
Our Respect Life Ministry sponsors Pennies from Heaven, a baby bottle Lenten Project. It began Ash Wednesday and continues after all weekend Masses through March. The bottles are filled with Lenten sacrifices and then returned the weekend after Easter or whenever convenient. This is an excellent way to observe Lent and, at the same time, make a contribution to help save lives of the unborn.
St. Steven’s St. Vincent de Paul will be making Easter baskets again this year for children of St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s. Any donations would be appreciated to help fill the baskets; contact Gloria at 480-895-1741. Thank you for your continued support!
Our Book Club meets the first and third Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m. in the parish office classroom. The book being reviewed this month is Seven Last Words: An Invitation to a Deeper Friendship with Jesus by James Martin, S.J. The contact person is Deacon Dick; he can be reached at 480-895-9266, x107.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is every Monday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. You are invited to come and spend an hour with Jesus in silence. A sign-up sheet is available in the church narthex.
