Sue Schwartz joins Changing the Way We Age Campaign

Sue Schwartz

Aging in Cottonwood Palo Verde will never be the same.

Sue Schwartz becomes the champion of a ground-breaking campaign to shift society’s perceptions of aging.

What’s in a word? When it comes to the word “aging” or the word “older,” plenty—and much of it negative, at least until now.

Sue has joined the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA)’s Changing the Way We Age® Campaign (www.changingthewayweage.com). An important part of this ground-breaking campaign is the ICAA Champions program, made up of individuals and organizations committed to shifting society’s perceptions of aging by serving as role models and educators in the community.

As an ICAA Individual Champion, Sue will participate in events, speak with groups, volunteer in the community and schools and become involved in related activities with a single aim: to show that aging is not synonymous with decline and that many older adults are active, engaged, vital and vibrant individuals. Sue will also earn and encourage others to earn a Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA; www.millionpalachallenge.org) and will support First Lady Michelle Obama’s intergenerational Let’s Move! Initiative.

Sue’s purpose is to live a happy, healthy and inspired life by embracing today and visualizing tomorrow. Her mission is to inspire others to consider the possibilities and joy of a lifestyle based on wellness. ICAA is proud to have her join our Champion Program.

“The ICAA Champions program is taking off across North America, thanks to the participation of individuals such as Sue,” says Colin Milner, ICAA’s CEO. “Their enthusiasm and commitment is helping to overturn ageist stereotypes and define a new vision of aging that will transform the way older adults are perceived in years to come.”
