Sun Lakes Chorale Kicks Off 2025-26 Season

Yvonne Orlich

Well, we met on Sept. 8 for our first fall rehearsal, and the excitement and energy were positive, and positively palpable! We started off with our usual registrations and music pick-up. Then at 1 p.m., the president welcomed us. The turnout for the first rehearsal was great, and we were pleased to welcome several “new” members and welcomed back a few members who had left us for a variety of reasons and have now come back. We happily welcome them all!

Once practice started, we dug in. Our director Rob Swanson introduced us to several new numbers and brought out a few older numbers. The singers are excited with the wide range of songs Rob presented, and our enthusiasm helped us get through a few of them from start to finish the first time out and eager to move on to the next high-energy number.

We are expecting more members (snowbirds and others) to return in the next few weeks, and it appears we will be at full capacity. And isn’t that wonderful?!

The Holiday Concert will be here before we know it. When it’s 95+ degrees outside, it seems odd to be singing about Christmas, snow, and sleighs, but the music is so infectious you almost want to hurry home and start digging out the Christmas decorations—almost. But, seriously, our goal is clear. We aim to put on another great performance to start off the holiday season for you, our audience, and we will be working to accomplish that.

The concert is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 11, at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church. We will, of course, have advance ticket sales, with tickets available at Ace Hardware on Tuesday, Nov. 25, Dec. 2, and Dec. 9. Or if you know a Chorale member, they will each have tickets available in November.

Look for our display at the upcoming Open Houses in Cottonwood Palo Verde on Oct. 4, Sun Lakes Country Club on Oct. 11, and IronOaks on Oct. 18. We’ll have information available on who we are and how you can join us and maybe a sampling of our music from the Spring Concert.

We hope to see you all very soon.
