With happy memories of yet another full-house holiday concert, the Chorale has welcomed seasonal returnees and new singers as all begin to build their annual spring concert. With the resumption of rehearsals, shared family experiences and health updates have united friends long connected by their ongoing bond of music.
Area music lovers are invited to attend the Chorale’s Spring Concert to be held on Friday, March 18 (note the weekday change from previous Thursday evening performances). The event will again be held at the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, 9248 E. Riggs Road. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. concert and tickets remain at $10 each.
Chorale members will begin selling concert tickets on Friday, February 5. As in the past, tickets will also be on sale at Ace Hardware’s Ticket Tuesdays beginning February 16 and continuing at that location each Tuesday through March 15 from 10:00 a.m.-noon. Another ticket option: enjoy the convenience of phoning Chorale member Carolyn Ellis at 480-883-6997 and sending her a check along with a stamped, self-addressed return envelope.
What songs will be presented? The variety includes such rhythmic favorites as Alexander’s Ragtime Band and Fascinating Rhythm; spirituals such as He’s Got the Whole World and favorites such as Let There Be Peace on Earth. The Chorale is composed of approximately 80 singers – skilled male and female voices, offering complex multiple harmonies and challenging tempos, percussion accompaniments from the Chorale’s BJ Van Noy and guest instrumentalists – the group’s usual ingredients for a very interesting musical evening.
