Pastor Jerry McGhee
Some time ago I heard an individual on the radio in a disparaging tone ask the questions, “Who did Jesus think he was, anyway?” I don’t believe he was honestly seeking the answer to that question, but my mind began to answer him almost immediately. I remember what Jesus said about himself.
Jesus said:
“I am the bread of life.”
“I am the light of the world.”
“I have come from the Father to do the will of the Father.”
“The Father and I are One.”
“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one cometh to the Father but by Me.”
That is who Jesus declared Himself to be. But what proof or evidence do we have of His identity?
We have the witness of God the Father, the witness of the Word of God, the witness of Jesus himself. We have the witness of His disciples and the witness of history. All confirm the Apostle Peter’s testimony that Jesus is “The Christ, the Son of God.” Furthermore, the Apostle Paul tells us that there is coming a day when “Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”
That’s who Jesus thinks He is!
