Message from the president
Anne Montgomery
The annual Cottonwood Palo Verde Homeowners meeting was held on March 27 in the San Tan Ballroom. We hope that you were able to attend what is our “State of the Union” presentation. We welcomed returning Board member Roger Beagle for a second three-year term and Bud Jenssen, returning to the Board for a three-year term after a two-year hiatus. We also thanked Bill Greer for his dedicated service to the Board and the community, as he has completed his term on the Board. Filling out the rest of our Board of Directors are Woody Neiman, Gay Zawatski, Don Hicks and Hank Unck. Your Board encourages and welcomes all Cottonwood Palo Verde Homeowners to attend the monthly Agenda Planning and Board meetings. These meetings are the place to get the straight scoop on what is happening in our community, what is being planned and where our money is being spent. Once the business of the Board has been completed, there is always time for homeowner questions and comments. The date, time and place are published weekly in the Friday Flyer. We hope to see you!
Fitness Activity Center (FAC) Update: According to the contractor’s schedule, by the time you read this, the post tension concrete building slab will be in place, and we should start to see the steel building framing rising above the security fencing. As so much of the initial construction has been underground infrastructure, it is wonderful for all to be able to actually “see” progress being made. In addition to the building slab being poured, the majority of work this month will concentrate on concrete work for the balance of the footings, curbs and gutters. Please remember that this is a hard hat area for authorized personnel only. Keep up with the progress by checking out the updated photos on the website or visiting Homeowner Services.
Congratulations to February Employee of the Month Melchor Hernandez. Melchor is employed in our Common Areas Maintenance Department as an irrigation technician. He is always the first worker to arrive in the yard and he doesn’t miss a day of work. For the past month, Melchor has been doing the job of two, as we are short a second irrigation technician. Recently, he dug up and repaired four main water line breaks and even when in mud up to his chest, kept a positive attitude. Thank you, Melchor, for your contributions to our community.
Please meet Wendy Huffman, March Employee of the Month. Wendy is the Palo Verde hostess who greets every guest with a smile and who goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure her guests are happy. She is always on the lookout for ways to improve the operation by spending off time assessing other businesses for good ideas that might translate to Sun Lakes. Wendy is a model and caring employee, and the HOA looks forward to seeing her smiling face for a long time to come. The Board and the community thank you, Wendy.
Easter and Passover are coming up, and it is a wonderful time for the gathering of friends and family – enjoy, everyone!
