Message from the President
Anne Montgomery
Dear Homeowners,
As we see our Fitness Activity Center construction project nearing the finish line, your Board of Directors has recently given their approval of the fees to be paid for the preliminary designs of two (2) Capital Improvement projects put forward to the Board by the Facilities & Grounds Committee. The first is to Katz Design to provide Phase I drawings, including interior elevations and preliminary details of the proposed remodel of the Cottonwood Bar & Grille. This includes the main dining room, bar face, doors to the patio, beverage center, buffet area, accent lighting, wall and ceiling treatments, and furniture selections. The second project is the proposed remodel of the Palo Verde Restaurant Restrooms, which includes eliminating the showers, expanding the toilet facilities, and adding much-needed storage. Archi-Cad Architects has been selected to proceed with the design and construction documents. This is the initial step in bringing proposed Capital Projects to life. Once this is done, estimated project costs are determined, and the proposed projects will be sent to the Board of Directors for their final approval to proceed. Provided Board approval is given, it will likely be late spring/summer of next year before either of these projects commences.
Fitness Activity Center (FAC) Update: As construction is on schedule to be completed by the end of this month, October will be very busy with finishing many items: the spa surface and decking tile work, installation of the cushioned wood flooring in the multi-purpose rooms, the wood-grained LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) flooring in the main body of the building, curbs, landscaping and landscape sprinklers, installation of the electric light poles and paving striping. In the final week, Farnsworth will conduct an inspection, complete their “punch list” and give the building a final cleaning, and our HOA will inspect the building for final approval. Once the building has been signed off, the equipment will be installed. The new homeowner cards with the FAC entrance security barcode are available now at Homeowner Services. Get yours now and beat the crowd! Watch The Flyer and In the Know for the date of the Grand Opening, likely mid-November.
Congratulations to Hugo Cortez-Perez, our September Employee of the Month. Hugo has been with the Association for five years as a line cook in our Cottonwood Food & Beverage Department. He always comes to work with a great attitude and puts time and effort into each buffet every time. Hugo has a great relationship with our homeowners, and it shows. He personally takes care of any homeowner’s request or dietary restrictions without question. Hugo is an essential part of the Cottonwood kitchen staff, and we are very pleased to have him on our team. Thank you, Hugo, for your dedicated service!
