Message from the President
Joe D’Amore, IronOaks Board President
Can you believe it? It’s 2022 already! I hope you all enjoyed your holidays and had a great New Year’s Eve. Now that all the fun is over, let’s get down to business—just kidding. Let the good times keep rolling. We plan to do just that in IronOaks. We will be kicking off the new year with a Big Band Dance on Jan. 6 in our Oakwood ballroom. A month or so ago, my wife and I went to the premier performance of the Big Band Dance, and it was terrific. The band is a really good swing band, reminiscent of that era. My personal favorite was their performance of “In The Mood.” They did Glenn Miller proud, and the vocal performances were also terrific. So, put on your dancing shoes and join us on the 6th or just come to listen to the music. Bet you won’t be able to sit still when the music starts.
January will be a star-studded month in IronOaks. There will be tribute concerts for Rod Stewart and Tina Turner, Queen, Bruno Mars, and even Elvis will be in our ballroom. For those of you who want to actually perform, come on down to our Open Mic Night on Jan. 25 at our Grill On The Green restaurant in Ironwood, starting at 5 p.m. The crowd is friendly. Or just come to be entertained. You won’t be disappointed. You may want to plan to get there a bit early, because those performances have been standing room only.
Team Trivia remains alive and well on most Monday nights in the Oakwood ballroom. And now it’s free! It’s lots of fun, but if you don’t want to over-tax your brain, then join us on Jan. 28 for a Paint & Sip event. Just a word of caution—it has been scientifically proven that the amount of paint that finds its way onto your skin and clothing is directly proportional to the amount of vino you ingest. Not that anyone really cares after the first glass or two or three. But if you don’t think that will be enough wine for you, then attend our Wine Dinner on Jan. 18. In addition to fabulous wine presentations, our chef outdoes himself with the courses he serves at those events.
We’ve all been through a lot of serious stuff in 2021, so just maybe it’s time to let our hair down this new year and enjoy the blessings we have in our great community, blessings we share with our friends. And please stay safe out there.

Free Annual Christmas Golf Cart Parade & Show
Cottonwood Palo Verde holiday celebrations bring joy to others!
It started at Palo Verde Country Club the afternoon of Dec. 3. Neighbors came from far and near once they got the happy word! There was holiday music in the air, plus hot chocolate, turkey soup, and candy canes everywhere! Santa arrived with Mrs. Claus by his side, plus Rudolph, the snowman, Santa’s elves, and even The Grinch couldn’t hide! Everyone wanted to take photos of them; children, grandparents, and even men! The golf carts lined up in full holiday gear to see which carts won prizes and holiday cheers! At 6 p.m. Santa and his crew knew they couldn’t stay, because they wanted to ride in the golf cart parade. The Rangers led the parade as the carts moved through the streets. The homeowners they passed had such a big treat! They drove through the streets as quick as they could, because Santa wanted to see the children waiting for him at Cottonwood! At 7 p.m. the celebration in the San Tan Ballroom began with cookies and drinks and Santa’s helpers lending a hand. The program kicked off with keyboards being played on the stage, plus singing and laughing and fun for anyone’s age! All of our volunteers worked hard to make everything just right, and we are thankful for them each and every night!
New 12 Days of Christmas Gifts Program Warms Hearts of Others
Holidays are times for letting your neighbors and friends know you care. That is just what Jean Jones, the new recreation manager, is doing for the Cottonwood Palo Verde Country Club residents. Because Jean wants to let others know that homeowners are family and part of each other’s lives, she began a new way of showing her community cares by starting the 12 Days of Christmas Gifts Program. She wants to spread joy to others. Twelve recipients were chosen for the first Christmas of this event. With the help of one of Santa’s elves, each recipient received a 12 Days of Christmas bag with 12 gifts wrapped and filled with love! Each present had a tag saying what gift to open on day one and ending with day 12 on Christmas Day. The 12 Days of Christmas Gifts Program is just the beginning of many wonderful events planned by CWPV’s new recreation manager. If you would like to help support the 12 Days of Christmas Gifts Program, financial donations to the Recreation Department are welcomed!
