Sun Lakes – Cottonwood Palo Verde at Sun Lakes

Message from the President

Leonard Horst

As I mentioned in last month’s article, we have hired a new general manager for Sun Lakes HOA2. His name is Steve Hardesty, and he joined the HOA on July 18. Steve has spent the past month and a half getting settled in his new role and getting to know his management team. We have all enjoyed his calm approach to everything and his quick wit! Our continuing best wishes to him in this role!

Your board and management team have been hard at work building the 2023 budget and business plan. These key items will be completed and ready for presentation to all homeowners at the Oct. 26 budget meeting, which will immediately follow the monthly board meeting.

We are beginning to see our snowbirds trickle back into the community, and it is great to welcome them back! We expect to see all our venues running at capacity within the next 30 days.

The project with Cox Communications will begin shortly. We will provide additional information on timing and locations as soon as it is available.

As we welcome the end of the hot season, we remind you to be careful as you walk, bike, and drive on our roads. Your safety is critical to each of us. We all must do our part to ensure each resident can enjoy this community every day!

Girls Just Wanna’ Have Fun!

Girls Night, The Musical, is Sept. 19 in the Cottonwood ballroom! The night promises to be wild and hilarious as you follow the lives of five female friends! Audiences will laugh, cry, and find themselves singing and dancing in the aisles! Tickets are on sale now! Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. There will be special drinks at the bar just for this show!

Ready for a Spooky Night?

Join the ghostly fun on Oct. 31 at the San Tan Ballroom’s Monster Mash Halloween Dinner and Dance Party! Start at 5 p.m. with a hauntingly delicious dinner buffet. Then dance to the live (or are they alive?) music played by vampires, zombies, and ghouls!

Volunteering Makes a Difference!

The Recreation Department is always looking for special people to help us put on the best events ever! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for the Recreation Department for the upcoming fall events, please email Jean Jones, recreation manager, at [email protected] or Josh, assistant recreation manager, at [email protected].

Scarecrows and Community Days

What do scarecrows and Community Days Open Houses have in common? You can find out on Oct. 8 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., at Cottonwood in the San Tan Ballroom and Saguaro Room. Stop by and check out clubs and organizations you may be interested in joining, and you may even run into a scarecrow or two!

Ready for Racquetball?

We are ready for you! Homeowners can go to Homeowner Services during working hours and check out up to four racquets and six racquet balls for use at Palo Verde’s two indoor racquetball courts. Would you like to start a Racquetball Club? Please let me know. You can email Jean Jones, recreation manager, at [email protected] (or drop off a note).
