Sun Lakes Country Club

Message from the President

Janice Cournoyer

Happy New Year! Sun Lakes Country Club is looking forward to another productive year in 2017. Looking back at 2016, homeowners saw many improvements to our community. Some of the larger projects completed were the brand new pickleball courts, the restaurant remodel, the releveling of the front nine tee boxes on the golf course and adding an ADA ramp to the main pool area.

The budget process for 2017 began in July and after the review by the Budget and Finance Committee, the Board of Directors approved the 2017 budget at an open meeting held November 15. For the second consecutive year, homeowner dues will not be increased, the first time in 23 years dues have remained the same for two consecutive years. A big thank you to General Manager Kelly Haynes and her staff for all their hard work! Even with dues remaining the same, homeowners can look forward to many improvements to the common areas in 2017 including a necessary remodel of the Oasis Pool complex, releveling of the back nine tee boxes, new furniture for the dining room, lobby and patio at Mulligans, covered parking with solar panels in the west parking lot and a remodel of both the men’s and women’s Fitness Centers.

In addition to the projects mentioned, both the CC&R’s and Bylaws will be revised and sent to the homeowners for the required vote to implement the new governing documents. This will take place sometime in the first few months of the year so please watch the Sun Laker and eblasts for updates on this important vote.

I encourage everyone to attend both the Board and committee meetings throughout the year to keep informed of everything happening, starting with the Meet the Candidate night on January 10 and the annual meeting March 7. I hope to see you there.

Happenings at the Sun Lakes Country Club Library

Sharon Lavender

Happy New Year! Start 2017 with a visit to the Sun Lakes Country Club Library. We have a group of dedicated volunteer librarians available from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. All Sun Lakes area residents are welcome and our open book shelves offer many excellent books that can be borrowed during Clubhouse hours.

One extremely popular author, Michael Connelly, keeps readers coming back for more of his exciting mysteries. Connelly’s latest book is The Wrong Side of Goodbye. One critic calls Connelly “a master storyteller.” A second reviewer states, “It is impossible for Connelly to tell a bad story,” and calls his latest book “superb.” Look for this and other Connelly books in our library collection.

Be sure to check the standing bulletin board in the library area for other newly released books we have in our collection. Recent additions include Escape Clause by John Sanford, Hide Away by Iris Johanson, Woman of God by James Patterson, Turbo Twenty-Two by Janet Evanovich and No Man’s Land by David Baldacci.

Please help by returning all borrowed books for other reader’s enjoyment. Book covers should also be returned with the book. Your donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
