The Sun Lakes Italian–American Club (SLIAC) celebrated our best year ever at our May 7 dinner meeting at the Oakwood ballroom, attended by 126 members. The dual theme was “The Third Annual Italian Dessert Bake-Off” and “A Tribute to Our Sicilian Members.” The tribute included videos, panel discussion, and a slideshow from photos sent in by members of Sicilian family events, food or travels throughout the island. Roughly one third of our members are directly from Sicily, or have Sicilian connections.
Here is the list of monthly themes for our 2025-26 season. We take the summer off and resume our 2026-27 dinner meetings in October:
October: Italian Interactive Trivia. Competition between tables
November: A Night of Italian comedians. Hilarious videos.
December: Christmas Party and raffle. With Barbershop singers.
January: History of Italians and the Circus.
February: Mobster and Gomatta Night. With DJ songs and dancing.
March: Italian Potluck lunch and bocce ball Tournament at Sisk Park.
April: History of the Roman Colosseum with videos. Togas and Gladiators!
May: “Great Italian Dessert Bake-Off” and “A Tribute to Our Sicilian Members.”
