Deep concern for its membership’s well-being has resulted in the Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation’s (SLJC) decision to continue its services and all other programs via virtual technology for the foreseeable future. While it’s not ideal, SLJC feels it’s the most prudent route to follow at this time. And even though we can’t all be together in person, we still have a feeling of connection, as YouTube does allow us to offer written greetings to one another as we tune in to and during services. It just goes to show that there’s always something you can find to feel grateful about. Thank goodness for modern technology!
Here’s what SLJC’s calendar looks like for November: Shabbat services are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m., and they will honor veterans. Our fabulous Rabbi Wiener will be officiating, along with the beautiful singing voice of our cantor Ronda Polesky. As mentioned earlier, this will take place via YouTube.
These next two programs will be offered via Zoom, and you’ll need to contact Gail at [email protected] to get the link. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m., Rabbi Wiener will be offering an adult education class called “Interpreting the Bible in a Modern Age.” The following Tuesday, Nov. 24, also at 11 a.m., Rabbi Wiener and Rev. Vernon Meyer of the United Church of Christ will discuss “Gratitude.” These meetings are free of charge, and the entire community is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Lastly, SLJC wants to wish everyone a safe, healthy, and happy Thanksgiving! See you next month.
