Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation

The Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation (SLJC) is delighted to announce that the High Holiday celebrations of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur will take place in-person for the first time in two years. While the new Delta variant is of concern, and CDC guidelines will be strictly adhered to in this regard; nonetheless, there’s no dampening the enthusiasm felt by the entire congregation to be able to actually be together for the highest holidays on the Jewish Calendar.

As always, SLJC’s esteemed Rabbi Wiener will be leading the services, and the choir, under the wonderful leadership of Lana Oyer, promises to be better than ever!

Rosh Hashanah Services will take place at the Sun Lakes Chapel on Monday, Sept. 6, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon.

On Sunday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, Kever Avot will take place at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, including a continental breakfast.

Kol Nidreii Service will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the Sun Lakes Chapel. Jan Semez, cellist from the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, will be lending his talents to the service.

Yom Kippur Service will be on Thursday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with several breaks in between, also at the Sun Lakes Chapel.

Following the Yom Kippur Service, there will be a community Break-the-Fast starting at 5 p.m. in the ballroom at Cottonwood Country Club. This event requires prepaid reservations that must be received no later than Sept. 7. Please call Wendy at 480-584-5909 for all additional information.

SLJC wishes the entire community blessings of good health and happiness. Our doors are always open to you. L’Shanah Tovah!
