Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation

Joyce Spartonos

As the sweltering heat of summer settles upon us, I’m reminded of the words of the song that somewhat goes, “The weather outside is frightful, but the weather inside’s delightful,” and even though it refers to the icy cold of winter, couldn’t it just as easily apply to us right now, with the temperatures already reaching 110 degrees and above. Which leads me right into a perfectly good reason to encourage you to spend at least 45 minutes to an hour out of the sweltering heat, and in the wonderfully air-conditioned Chapel in Sun Lakes 1 on Friday, Aug. 12. Starting at 5:30 p.m., the Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation (SLJC), led by our esteemed Rabbi Irwin Wiener, will be offering another beautiful Twilight Service.

If you haven’t already done so, remember to pay your dues and renew and update your Book of Remembrance page. Our next fundraiser is at the Hale Theater on Nov. 12, for the matinee performance of Sister Act. Secure reservations by calling Shelley or Marcia. Breakfast reservations can be made by getting in touch with Wendy. We’ll have more about September Services and the holidays next time.

We look forward to seeing you in August and, as always, SLJC not only welcomes, but indeed encourages the entire community to join us. It is the way we get to know and truly appreciate our neighbors! Our welcome mat is always out!

Until next time, Shabbot Shalom!
