The Sun Lakes Tennis Club played their final interclub tournament of the season on April 3. This is our annual remembrance tournament which is very dear to our hearts. It is an opportunity to meet with our members and those who have retired from the game and then to remember those who are no longer with us. It was especially good to have Mark Myron’s sister Peggy Harper and her husband Mike join us for the day. They presented our club with the scheduling board pictured with this article. It reads “In memory of Mark Myron, Tournament Director 2005-2013.” Mark loved the game and gave many hours of is time to our club. Mark was a hero to our country for he served in the Korean War and was very fluent in the language and translation of the Korean language.
The team tennis competition of the day was fierce. We had three teams within a one point margin of each other. The first place winners with 22 points are pictured. The other teams within a point were Ann Duggan, Faye Haynes, Bob Dunn and Dave Anciaux with 21 points; also having 21 points was the three member team of Dona Copperrud, Bob Beck and Denis White.
The breakfast bar was hosted by Gae Hall, JoAnn Miller and Carmella Davin Mike and Peggy Harper provided the entrée and our members, as usual, brought their best recipes for our enjoyment. What a great day! We look forward to next season.
See you on the courts!
