Several local tennis players were recently rewarded for their efforts in regional and national competition. Barb Jorgensen, a member of both IronOaks Tennis Club and Cottonwood Tennis Club, competed at the USTA Southwest Scottsdale Adult Tournament. Barb faced intense competition from younger players, but emerged as the Women’s 55 Singles Champion and earned second place in the Women’s 50 Doubles. This was her first time competing in an open singles tournament.

After a successful summer of competition in a number of USTA tournaments, Jack Sanders, a longtime IronOaks Tennis Club member, has earned high national USTA rankings. He is ranked #2 in Men’s 85 National Standings List Individual Doubles, and #4 in Men’s 85 National Standing List Singles.

Finally, Tim Shum, another longtime IronOaks Tennis Club member, had a very successful season competing in tournaments in California, Tucson, Prescott, and Phoenix.

He earned the following USTA rankings:

Men’s 55 National Standings List Mixed Individual Doubles: #1 National, #1 Southwest
