Sun Lakes UMC announces new counseling services

Sun Lakes United Methodist Church is pleased to introduce an important new ministry within its church. Sun Lakes UMC Counseling Services was introduced to the congregation on Easter Sunday, and is now offering counseling services to not only the congregation but the Sun Lakes community as well.

Two counselors, Dr. Julian Pickens and Debra Ralston, will provide counseling services for issues including anxiety/fear, depression, grief and loss, managing stress, and phase of life adjustment.

Dr. Julian Pickens, EdD, LISAC, LMFT, BRI-II is licensed in Arizona as an independent substance abuse counselor, as well as a marriage and family therapist. He also specializes in couple and family counseling and substance abuse counseling. Dr. Pickens is a member of Sun Lakes UMC.

Deb Ralston, MC, LPC, NCC is licensed in Arizona as an independent Professional Counselor and is certified as a National Certified Counselor. She is also a member of Sun Lakes UMC.

“This new ministry is a venture in faith, and we are trusting God to bless and guide us in this unique and important ministry,” said Senior Pastor Marvin Arnpriester.

Sun Lakes UMC Counseling Services will offer confidential individual, couple and family counseling for the congregation and the greater Sun Lakes community. To introduce the new service to the community, the church will offer a complimentary consultation for assessment, planning, and/or referral.

Fees for the counseling services will be based on a sliding income fee schedule ranging from $25 to $65 an hour.
