The sweltering heat of summer has finally moved on, and the beautiful autumn season greets us with cool mornings and evenings. The wood carvers await the arrival of several who summer in faraway places. It’s exciting as they return and we all share new ideas and projects. We invite anyone in Sun Lakes to come and visit our Thursday morning group and explore the many art forms as a participant or a spectator.
Many do live full-time right here, and one of the year-round residents is Tom Clark. Tom has been carving for many years and has a collection that is most impressive. My favorite is a bison he completed after a few months of pleasurable gouging and fine tuning his sculpture.
Please stop by to speak with us about the enjoyable hours we share at the Cottonwood Ceramics classroom on the plaza. A number of finished pieces are in the window display. We meet on Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. If you have questions, call Wally Jasien at 895-8281 or Margaret Ryan at 802-6535. It’s fun and it’s free.
