Residents who are 55 plus in Parker, Arizona have been taking Tai Chi classes to help conquer their fear of falling. The benefits of this slow, gentle, flowing exercise were cited in a Wall Street Journal article dated May 24, 2016. The article shares how researchers explored the power of exercise to help seniors overcome apprehension and stay active. The odds of a bone-shattering fall increase with age, as muscles grow weak and vision fades. The fear of falling causes many older people to shun physical activity, which perversely increases their risk of falls.
