This year the annual Thanks 4 Giving award presented by Sun Lakes Community Church will go to the Sun Lakes Women’s Association. Last year the first such award presented by the church was presented to the Sun Lakes Fire Department. The award will be presented at 9:30 a.m. during the church’s worship service at the Sun Lakes Chapel on Sunday, November 9.

Donald Hendricks, Pastor of Sun Lakes Community Church said, “It is hard to imagine an organization more giving and more effective in our community than the Sun Lakes Women’s Association. They raise large amounts of money and meet needs of individuals as well as organizations like the Fire Department. They recently completed the Plaza of Flags honoring those veterans who have served our country and live in Sun Lakes. A myth about the organization is they only serve Sun Lakes Country Club – which is not true. Their support extends to every corner of this community. We appreciate them very much.”

The award will be presented to the Women’s Association and accepted by the President Sharon Horton, along with members of the association’s board of directors.

On Sunday, November 2 the church will celebrate its 35th anniversary with a special banquet at 6:00 p.m. in the Arizona Room at the Sun Lakes Country Club. The wife of the first pastor, Rev. Mike Cappiello, Mary Ellen Cappiello, along with other charter members will be honored. For tickets call the church office at 480-720-9715.
