The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation is entering its sixth year as a charitable 501(c)(3) foundation serving the Sun Lakes community. During the past five years, The Foundation has raised and disseminated grants in excess of $250,000 in support of local organizations, clubs, and other charitable groups, such as Neighbors Who Care, AFMA Fire & Medical Authority, Sun Lakes Community Theatre, The Perfect Place Adult Day Services, etc., that provide services, activities, and opportunities for our senior population.
The Foundation now seeks to expand in several ways. First, The Foundation is looking to add four additional new members to its board of directors, so we are looking to all of our Sun Lakes communities to find individuals who love the lifestyle that the Sun Lakes communities provide and who want to be a director of our organization that is dedicated to supporting other organizations and clubs that give an endless array of opportunities for our senior population to play, learn, and enjoy life in Sun Lakes. If you would (or you know someone who would) like to be a part of The Foundation board, please contact any Foundation board member listed on our website, slcommunityfoundation.org, or go to the “Contact Us” page on the website and submit a note about your interest in the board.
Secondly, if you would like to participate in any of the activities of The Foundation without being a board member, we ask you to consider joining The Friends of The Foundation. This auxiliary group provides help at The Foundation’s sponsored upcoming fall fundraising events, such as 50/50 raffles at upcoming TAD concerts at Cottonwood, a Fun Walk in November, and the Holiday Gala in December (dinner with silent auction), etc. The Foundation is always looking for additional hands, as our many fundraising events offer many opportunities for involvement. If you would be interested in joining the Friends group, please go to the “Contact Us” page on our website and submit a note about your interest in assisting in any of the above activities.
The Foundation is excited to enter a new year. After the crisis we all endured the last 18 months, we enter the 2021-22 year with renewed enthusiasm. We are anxious to start again, and we hope that we can add four new names to our board as well as gain new volunteers for the Friends of the Foundation. Please consider joining us in the interest of the citizens of our Sun Lakes communities.
