Unity: Go with the flow

Kay Davis

In the July issue of Unity Magazine, Judith Orloff, M.D. shares with us the article, “Radiant Aging.” The ideas presented have to do with our negative perceptions about aging and our society’s underlying fear of the process. As research has linked negative perceptions about aging with a 7 year shorter life span, it behooves us to examine our own attitudes on how we are thinking about our lives. Can we release our insecurities, hurts or physical infirmities in order to embrace our passions, such as walking in nature, doing creative work or serving the world? Can we bend with the wind, relax and be fluid and not tense up, whatever happens? Dr. Orloff defines radiant aging as a life cycle process connected to the rhythms of nature, divinity and universal flow. The goal is to surrender deeply to your own power and light during tough passages as well as periods of grace. Unchecked stress is the enemy, calm is your friend, so take a deep breath, experience the present moment and go with the flow.
