Unity: Up, Up, and Away!

Kay Davis

Unity Church of Sun Lakes is a New Thought, Spiritual Community. We gather together to celebrate Peace, Love, Light, and Healing. We practice affirmative prayer, positive thinking, and a healthy lifestyle. We meet in the Arts & Crafts Room at Sun Lakes Phase 1 Country Club at 10 a.m. every Sunday. Rev. Jeanne MacLaughlin is our leader and presents our lessons. Should you miss church, you can view the service on YouTube later that day. All are welcome!

For a month of Sundays, Rev. Jeanne put an empty 7 Up can on the lectern and then proceeded to tell us about the seven “ups.” They are Look up, Lift up, Make it up, Lighten up, Give it up, Kick it up, and Start it up. Each of these can be hacks or tools to help us live a life of spiritual awakening. When looking up, we know there is nothing “Up there”! This is metaphorical and means to raise our consciousness to where God is. For God is perfect, whole, and complete and everywhere present and the Principal of all good. There is only one Power and one Presence, and the attributes of the One are peace, love, joy, harmony, order, abundance, and right action and can be found in each and every one of us. It is closer to us than our breathing and nearer than hands and feet. We go inside to look up. If ever you need anything, just ask. Then tune in and listen. Thanks to Jeanne, we look forward with anticipation for the next lesson on “Up, Up, and Away.”
