All veterans are invited to learn how to get free tickets to sporting and entertainment events and help support the Vet Tix Hero’s Wish program. Steve Weintraub, Chief Strategy Officer at Veteran Tickets Foundation, and member of the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame, will address Jewish War Veterans Copper State Post 619 on Sunday, Oct. 18.

JWV’s meeting takes place in the Oakwood Country Club Ballroom, 24218 S. Oakwood Blvd in Sun Lakes. A “Meet and Greet,” with free lox and bagels, coffee, and doughnuts starts at 9:30 a.m. The speaker follows at 10 a.m.

Weintraub served for 32 years in the Marine Corps and has been a driving force behind Vet Tix’s growth, helping the organization distribute tens of millions of free or deeply discounted tickets to concerts, sporting events, and theater performances nationwide. Based in Tempe, Steve has led the effort to grow Vet Tix, with its 1.9 million verified members, into the nation’s largest non-federally funded veterans service organization.

Wounds of war, both mental and physical, can stay with veterans the rest of their lives.

“Giving to our veterans and supporting the transitions back into family life and their communities is our mission. Our military personnel carry unique burdens of stress and sacrifice” states Weintraub.

There have been 16.6 million Veterans who have served during wartime; 3.6 million Veterans have service-related disabilities. To honor and support those who served and sacrificed so much, Vet Tix teams up with major sports teams, leagues, promoters, organizations, venues, and event ticket holders. The purpose is to provide free tickets to all branches of currently-serving U.S. military and veterans including immediate family of troops KIA.

These tickets reduce stress, strengthen family bonds, build life-long memories, and encourage service members and veterans to stay engaged with local communities and American life. The Vet Tix program provides veterans with positive family and life experiences, during and after their years of service to their country.

Deployed, wounded and families of those killed in action are shouldering the hardest burdens of military service. Weintraub will explain the Veteran Tickets Foundation’s new Hero’s Wish Program which grants specific wishes to eligible veterans. To relieve their burden of stress, Vet Tix will award a once in a lifetime, memorable experience to heal their spirit and bring them together as a family. The program allows members who meet certain criteria to request specific tickets for any single event. Donors fulfill that request either by ticket donation or by donating money to make the hero’s wish come true. Steve will explain the requirements for application.
