The Sun Lakes Hiking Club has been busy lining up this year’s hikes and hike leaders. We are ready and will officially begin our hikes on Monday, Nov. 7, but first have a Welcome Back Picnic scheduled for Nov. 4 from noon to 2 p.m.

Our picnic is open to both current members and anyone interested in learning more about our club. It’s a great time to meet fellow club hikers. At this writing in early October, we already have 39 hikers signed up for the picnic.

The picnic is happening at the Oasis Park Ramada, located in Sun Lakes Phase 1, at 9049 E. Sun Lakes Blvd South. The club will provide fried chicken and water. Side dishes and desserts would be greatly appreciated. If you are a member, RSVP through the Meetup site.

After lunch, there will be a short club meeting to orient newcomers to the club and to announce next spring’s special hike destination.

Our club hikes formally from November through April at three different intensity levels on Mondays, and also offers a second weekly “Moderate” intensity level hike on Wednesdays. We are a friendly, inclusive group that welcomes all able-bodied hiking enthusiasts! Our club’s goal is to make group hiking fun, challenging, social, and safe.

Hiking is one of the many rewarding activities you can do in our community. We look forward to meeting you and hiking with you!
