What Are These People Doing?

Birding in the Gilbert/Chandler area.

They are birding in the Gilbert/Chandler area to see what migrating birds have arrived. The local Audubon Society group, Desert Rivers, leads free birding walks at Chandler Veterans Oasis Park, Chandler Heights and Lindsay, on the first Saturday of the month from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The walks start when a few people gather. It can be a half hour or longer walk. The last group walk is at 11 a.m.

Then on the third Saturday of the month, the walks are at Gilbert Water Park on Guadalupe and Greenfield, next to the Gilbert Library. The Gilbert Water Park usually has more water in the ponds and, therefore, many more birds. DRAS has binoculars to lend, and there are small ones for children. You can’t miss the large tent with the DRAS sign. With the great weather we are having, it’s a great day to get outside. See the website at www.desert rivers audubon.org.
