The Sun Lakes Pickleball Club Cotton (SLPCC) held its very first Club Love tournament on February 16. The Valentine event was a blind draw mixed rated tourney for SLPCC members only. The tournament encompassed members from 2.5 level through the 4.0 level. Each team was comprised of two different levels of skill and teams were made up from a blind draw. No one knew who his or her partner was until the morning of the event. The single elimination tournament gave everyone an opportunity to watch each other’s games.

The weather was perfect for the tournament with a cool morning and nice afternoon. In fact, it was just right for eating pizza on the patio after the games where club members got a chance to get to know other members from different levels with whom they don’t generally get a chance to play. It was a great opportunity for socializing.

This tournament did not have trophies, cash, gift certificates, or other crass prizes. Nope, it had something better! The winners received braggin’ rights hats, spiffy red caps with the Club Love Tournament name embroidered on the front.

So, what’s not to love about Club Love? A day of fun, great weather and braggin’ rights hats! Deemed a successful and fun event, members are looking forward to the next one in 2017.
