Winter reading program

Maricopa County Library District’s (MCLD) Winter Reading Program (WRP) for adults is a fun and informative experience that runs from January 16 to March 16. This year’s theme is “Read to your Own Beat,” and focuses on adult literacy. WRP is different than our Summer Reading Program in a few key ways:

* WRP is designed for adults 18 and over. Although people of all ages can register and participate, online challenges, content and prizes are geared toward adults.

* During WRP, there are no secret codes. Participants can still earn digital badges by completing challenges and reaching point milestones.

* The interactive avatars featured in Summer Reading are replaced by our Winter Reading characters (not customizable).

* New this year, we are working with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to include a portion of the County jail’s adult population.

It is similar to MCLD’s Summer Reading Program in that participants earn points by logging books and completing challenges (e.g., sets of book titles or activities focused on a topic). Logging books enters participants in a weekly prize drawing for MCLD branded items (e.g., tote bag, bookmark, coffee mug, books). Participants who log at least 100 points are also entered into a grand prize drawing for a membership for two to the Musical Instrument Museum!
