With the Heat Comes the Summer Slow Down—NWC Clients Still Need Our Help!

Neighbors Who Care (NWC) delivers services to our homebound and disabled clients through our corps of community volunteers. NWC helps people free of charge, a remarkable fact that permits the agency to help people by providing $3 in direct service for every $1 in donations we receive.

We love our volunteers. They are everyday people just like you and me with a heart for helping out a neighbor so they can continue to live independently. Our flexible system allows volunteers to choose which of our many services they want to do and are able to do within their own schedule, with no minimum service requirement and maximum flexibility.

Each month we add between 29 and 35 new clients, thanks to our social worker Bonnie Kosar. With COVID-19, the volunteer numbers dwindled, and as more volunteers age or move away, Neighbors Who Care is consistently seeking to refresh our volunteer numbers with new, friendly people.

Although we need more volunteers for all of the services we provide, our biggest need is always for drivers to take clients to vital medical appointments.

It’s not too late! If you have attended a Neighbors Who Care orientation and have not yet completed the enrollment process but you are still interested, we can help. We get it! Things come up. We encourage you to give us a call to complete the process and join us for your interview to determine what you’d like to do. The clients you help can’t continue to live independently in their own homes without you.
