Since their beginning, the Sun Lakes Women’s Association (SLWA) has been one of the strongest supporters of what was then the Sun Lakes Fire District, and is now the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority. Through the years, the SLWA has donated everything from ambulance stretchers to high-pressure fire nozzles and many other things in between, for the benefit of our firefighters and medics. One of the nicest traditions in Sun Lakes is when residents show up at the stations with meals, desserts, and fruit baskets for the crews. Sadly, one of many things COVID-19 has changed is that nice community gesture. So, recently, the Sun Lakes Women’s Association, represented by President Connie Hogan, presented the on-duty crews with supermarket gift cards to help with their holiday meals.
