As we write this, we are in the waning days of procuring sponsorships for this program for 2017. We are now preparing to place our wreaths on the grave sites of the veterans in Valley of the Sun Cemetery on Chandler Heights Road.
We will honor and respect those veterans in the military section of the cemetery on Saturday, December 16, at 8:30 a.m. We meet, register our volunteers and then disperse to place the wreaths on the grave of each person. We honor them by speaking their name before placement of the balsam wreath. By speaking their names, we keep their memory alive and honor their service.
Our volunteers are members of organizations such as the JROTC, Elks Riders, American Legion, Exchange Club of Chandler and other veteran groups.
We wish to thank our volunteers, those who purchased sponsorships and Wreaths Across America for the opportunity to honor those who have served this nation and repose in Valley of the Sun Cemetery. Valley of the Sun Cemetery and Mortuary has been most helpful in our project.
We will be back in 2018 and look forward to sponsoring more wreaths to honor those interred there.
To our community: a heartfelt thank you for your support.
