What’s pickleball? It’s a fun sport where you’ll laugh and talk, and it will make you feel absolutely virtuous about getting your exercise.
Why pickleball? It’s a sport for everyone. It doesn’t matter whether you’re young or old or in between – it’s great for 90-year-olds as well as kids and teens! Not in tip-top shape but want to do something? Bet you can handle this sport. It’s fun, it’s social and it might be more exercise than you’re getting right now. It’s as competitive as you want to make it. There are different skill levels to suit each player’s ability. You don’t need to be an athletic star, but you can get there if you’re so inclined. It’s a combination of badminton, tennis and table tennis, and it only has the good pieces of all those sports.
Four pickleball courts fit inside one regulation tennis court area, so you only need to move 25% as far as you would in tennis, but you still get the advantage of all that stretching. Good deal! It’s exercise that doesn’t seem like exercise. The balls are just big yellow whiffle balls, so you can really see them. Paddles are smaller than tennis rackets – much smaller and lighter, easier to control.
The Sun Lakes Pickleball Club Cottonwood wants to help you enjoy this sport and will provide free lessons to CWPV homeowners to get you on board. We have equipment you can use for the lessons, so there’s no investment until you’re on your own. Lessons are at the pickleball courts in Cottonwood and can be arranged by signing up online at https://www.slpcc.net/non-member-introduction-to-pickleba. Complete the very short form, and our Orientation and Training Coordinator Charlene Clausen will get you scheduled.
There is no obligation to join the club. We just want to share the fun. Give it a try!
