The Hot Spot – November 2014

Sun Lakes Chief of Department Paul Wilson congratulates Battalion Chief Steve McCoy on achieving 25 years with SLFD. McCoy has served as a firefighter, paramedic, engineer, Captain and Deputy Chief during his tenure. In addition to providing administrative and management services to the community he has worked with the Community Assistance Program and emergency medical services. McCoy also helped develop the wild land firefighting intergovernmental agreement, coordinated grant applications, oversaw entry and promotional testing and kept all mapping, pre-plans and the department’s mobile computer terminals up to date.

SLFD Community Assistance Program volunteers Kim Schmuck (far left, gray shirt) and Moe Bleth (back to camera) were very busy during the Cottonwood-Palo Verde Open House providing information and selling at cost the Fire Department’s new computer “flash drives.” The $5 flash drive enables you to put everything from your medical information to contact information on it and is being sold at the various Sun Lakes community open houses. They will also be available at the Sun Lakes Fire Department’s Station Two on Alma School Road. Sales have been brisk and community response has been overwhelmingly positive.
