Restless Minds topic: Road to the presidency

Bill Gates

The Restless Minds discussion group will conclude its 2015-16 season with a look at the exciting and ever-changing presidential campaign.

The discussion will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10 in the Sewing Room of Oakwood’s Arts and Crafts Center. Restless Minds discussions are open to all people with open, inquisitive minds. There are no dues or membership requirements. Just show up and participate.

In mid-April, as this article was prepared, it seemed increasingly likely that no Republican candidate would have enough votes to secure the presidential nomination on the first ballot. And, on the Democratic side, what had widely been expected to be a Hillary Clinton coronation for the nomination had turned into a real battle.

The discussion will focus on what to expect at the conventions, and how participants see the election playing out this fall. If not Trump or Cruz for the Republicans, discussion participants will be asked to make their case for another possible nominee.

The Restless Minds group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, September through May. For more information contact Bill Gates or Bobbie Reed at 480-883-7410.
