Shalom Chapter for Hadassah

Doris Codkind, Publicity

It seems almost impossible that summer is over (by the calendar, not by the temperature) and that we are planning events for the last quarter of 2015.

The Shalom Chapter of Hadassah has been busy working to bring you exciting and enjoyable events to attend either alone or with your significant other.

September 30 is our first regular Hadassah meeting at the Oakwood Clubhouse, 24218 S. Oakwood Blvd., Sun Lakes. Optional lunch is at 11:30 a.m. at a cost of $16. Send reservation check to Ruth Friedman, The Renaissance, 9508 E. Riggs Rd., Sun Lakes 85248 or call 480-802-9600. The program starts at 1:00 p.m. with a presentation by Neighbors Who Care.

It’s barbecue time again on October 13 at 6:00 p.m. with our fantastic, fun fundraiser at the Halley Pool in Ironwood on Alma School in Sun Lakes. Hot dogs, chicken, salads and desserts – yum! It’s a bargain at $19 pp. Send reservation check to Marilyn Behr, 25803 Eastlake, Sun Lakes 85248.

At our regular meeting on October 20 we will meet Cathy Olswing, President of the Hadassah Desert Mountain Region. Holly Parker, who spearheads the Just Three Things campaign, will also speak about how these donations make a difference to those in need. As always, optional $16 lunch is at 11:30 a.m. Send reservation check to Ruth Friedman, The Renaissance, 9508 E. Riggs Road, Sun Lakes 85248 or call 480-802-9600. The program starts at 1:00 p.m.

December 8: Trip to the New Western Art Museum

For membership information call Cyril at 802-0243 or Kathy at 895-5194. We look forward to seeing you at our meetings and events.

Why is Hadassah such an important women’s organization? Besides the social aspect of getting together, Hadassah is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to causes. We are at the forefront of humanitarian aid because of the money raised by women like us as members of chapters across the country. Every time we hold a fundraising event, we are making a difference in the lives of others.

Shalom!
