Sun Lakes Republican Club to meet October 14

Carolyn McCorkle

The Sun Lakes Republican Club will feature “Islam and Jihad” at its regular meeting Tuesday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Arizona Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 N. Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes, Arizona 85248. The public is invited.

This presentation on the ideological nature of Islam is focused on what non-Muslims need to know about Islam and why. It will help us make sense of much of what is going on in the world today, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Israel and the United States. Dr. Carl Goldberg will examine the Koran and the writings of the most respected Islamic religious authorities to see what these Islamic sources say about human rights, freedom of speech and anti-blasphemy laws, Sharia law, the role of the Koran, the role of Muhammad and the status of non-Muslims and women, to mention just a few of the issues addressed. This is a presentation that you will want to share with your friends and neighbors!

Dr. Goldberg has made over 150 public speaking and radio presentations on Islam in California, Nevada, Arizona and Florida. He has a Ph.D. in history from the University of Michigan and began a serious study of Islam after the tragic attack on our country on 9/11. He has taught numerous Phoenix-area adult education courses on Islam and is currently the head of the Arizona chapter of ACT! for America, a citizen action network founded by Brigitte Gabriel;  www.ActforAmerica.org.

You will also meet former State Senator Jonathan Paton, the Chairman of YES on Proposition 122. This ballot measure would protect Arizonans by insuring that our state and local taxes don’t pay for bad laws passed in Washington, D.C. Our state Senator Steve Yarbrough (LD 17) will provide an important update on Arizona elections.
