After telling me how good she feels each day after yoga class, Carol, one of my students at Sun Lakes, said, “It’s not what people think it is. People have this idea of what yoga is, and it’s just wrong.”
There are lots of pre-conceived notions about what yoga is, and I don’t know what your notion about it is, but I can tell you that yoga is for all bodies. If you have a body, it’s for you.
If you have chronic discomfort or pain, it’s for you. If you wish you had better range of motion again, yoga is for you. If you move slower than you used to, it’s for you. If bending down is not the experience it used to be, yoga is for you. If you’re not that flexible, yoga is for you. If you notice you don’t stand up as straight as you used to, guess what? Yoga is for you. If you worry about your balance, it’s for you!
Yoga is an amazing system of breathing and moving that heals and strengthens the body. It clears the mind. It makes you feel centered. Somehow, it gives you more energy and more calm, all at the same time.
If you’ve thought it’s not for you, then Carol was sure right. Yoga is not what you think it is! Come give it a try and see for yourself. Wear comfortable clothes. We have props you can use, including mats. No need to schedule ahead; just come right on over to one of the classes below.
