A Nail-Biter! The Cottonwood Tennis Club 2025 Mixed Doubles Tournament

Dannette Hunnel

Impressive skills and fierce competition took place on the Cottonwood tennis courts during February. In the Mixed Doubles Tournament, strategy, talent, patience, and partner communication were exhibited throughout the weeklong event. Spectators witnessed a rollercoaster of skills from these boy/girl, American/Canadian partnerships with dynamic, up-to-the-minute performances and great moments of sportsmanship.

The play rules were the best of three sets or a tiebreaker. Man, there were some thrilling tiebreakers!

The final results were as follows:

Winning teams:

3.5: Mike Jaltuch and Kathy Molitor, USA; Finalists Dean Sinerius and Maryann Sinerius, USA

3.0: Paul Homan and Susan Aparicio, USA; Finalists Terry Braun and Carol Trentadue, USA

2.5: Jeff Carr and Teresa Hermsen, USA; Finalists Jerzon Vargas and Felisha Kulba, USA (determined by a round-robin play)

Congratulations to all!
