Speaker Pam Rackley from Sweet Pz Dezigns
Betty Bogaard
Agave Quilters Guild guest speaker in October was Pam Rackley, owner of Sweet Pz Dezigns, a long arm quilting and full retail shop in Gilbert. Pam’s passion is sharing the love of quilting with others. Her featured topic was paper piecing using Lori Holt’s designs. (Please note that our originally scheduled October speaker, Heidi Pridemore, has been rescheduled for April 7, 2027).
Mark your calendar for our next Agave Quilters Guild meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. in the Navajo Room, Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. Our guest speaker will be Steven Bryce Eckland of Eckland Quilts, his topic will be sewing machine care and maintenance.
Our 2027 membership drive is underway for both new and returning members. Annual dues are $25, which includes access to our monthly meetings, guest speakers, educational and community service opportunities, and stash tables filled with free fabric and other quilting related items for members to share. At our next two meetings, we will also feature Boutique tables with handmade items available for purchase. Members are encouraged to join our small friendship and special interest groups, which include art quilting, hand sewing, machine embroidery, machine sewing, and social lunches. In September, Agave Quilters delivered 89 children’s quilts to Valleywise Health Medical Center to be given to hospitalized children. We also are continuing to create quilts for our local veterans. We would like to thank the Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation for their generous support of these projects.
Agave Quilters Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from September through May in the Navajo Room of Sun Lakes Country Club, with the exception of December when we hold our Holiday Luncheon at Palo Verde Country Club, where paid reservations are required.
Whether you are a longtime resident, a former member, or new to the community, we invite you to join us and become a member. For further information visit agavequiltersguild.com.
